Mettlach

The headquarters and manufacturing home of Villeroy & Boch ceramics, Mettlach is a modest Saarland town on the river Saar, close to Germany's western border with France and Luxembourg. The town also lends its name to Mettlach tiles, a product of the same ceramic tradition. Cafés and restaurants serve the compact centre, and the surrounding Saar valley offers scenic viewpoints along the water.
