A foothill town in the Talesh Mountains of Gilan province in northwestern Iran, Masal has become a regional tourism destination drawing visitors to its highland summer pastures, including the well-known areas of Ulsbelangah and Sueh Chaleh. The town's Talesh-speaking population maintains traditional pastoral customs alongside a growing villa-rental and tourism economy. Nearby cities include Someh Sara, Fuman, and Khalkhal across the Ardabil provincial border.
