Marsabit

Surrounded on nearly all sides by Marsabit National Park and Reserve, this Kenyan town in the country's north sits within a forested highland zone of volcanic mountains and crater lakes. It serves as the capital of Marsabit County, on the southern edge of the Chalbi Desert — a combination of landscapes, from desert to forest-covered volcanic peaks, that gives the area an unusually varied character for the region.
