Maringá
Maringá · Brazil
Planned from the ground up in 1947 by urbanist Jorge de Macedo Vieira along Garden City principles, Maringá is a large city in northwestern Paraná, Brazil, with wide tree-lined avenues, generous green space, and a walkable centre with a strong café and restaurant scene. Known locally as Cidade Canção — a title tied to the song "Maringá" by Joubert de Carvalho — the city hosts several annual cultural events including an international choral festival and an international literary festival.
