Marfa
Presidio County · United States
This modest high-desert city in far west Texas that has become a major center for minimalist art, with the Chinati Foundation and Building 98 among its main draws, alongside the enigmatic Marfa lights. Founded in the early 1880s as a railroad water stop between the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park, it draws a disproportionate number of cafés and restaurants for its size and is regularly photographed by visitors.
