Lovech
Bulgaria
This town in north-central Bulgaria on the river Osam, Lovech has a compact centre with cafés and restaurants, a collection of preserved 19th-century buildings, and a covered bridge. During the Ottoman period it was known as "Altın Lovech" — Golden Lovech. It sits at the foot of the Balkan Mountains and serves as a gateway to the Beklemeto pass and the mountain crafts centre of Troyan.
