A small hill village in Viterbo's province, Latera sits on volcanic terrain near both Lake Bolsena and Lake Mezzano, close to the Tuscan border. A medieval palace built by the Farnese family anchors a compact historic centre of stone houses, and the village holds several churches for its size. The surrounding landscape and the elevated position give it a strong visual character that rewards photography.
