Designated a nationally important cultural landscape in 2014, this compact lakeside hamlet on the western inlet of the Tsuzurao Peninsula sits along the northern reaches of Lake Biwa in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. The village's shoreline setting and historic character earned it further recognition in 2016 as part of Japan Heritage's "Lake Biwa and its Waterside Scenery" designation, and the surrounding terrain offers scenic views across the water toward nearby mountains.
