La Possession

This coastal town on Réunion's northwestern shore, La Possession sits between the island's capital Saint-Denis and Le Port, with the ocean on one side and the mountains of the Réunion National Park on the other. Most of the Cirque of Mafate — a caldera formed by the dormant Piton des Neiges volcano — falls within its territory, placing the town at the edge of a landscape that is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site in the wider region.
