Kran
Bulgaria
Village just south of the Balkan Mountains in central Bulgaria, Kran holds a conserved ancient Thracian tomb, a Thracian sanctuary, and the ruins of a medieval fortress that was an important stronghold of the Second Bulgarian Empire in the 13th and 14th centuries. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the town of Kazanlak lies a short distance to the south.
