Municipality in Finnish Lapland above the Arctic Circle, Kittilä is home to the Levi ski resort at Sirkka and sits within reach of two national parks — Pallas-Yllästunturi to the west and Lemmenjoki to the north. The area recorded Finland's lowest ever temperature, −51.5 °C, in January 1999, and enjoys midnight sun from late May through mid-July. The snow village sculptures at Lainio drew wide attention in the late 2010s.
