Kishiwada, a city in Osaka Prefecture, is best known for its Danjiri Matsuri, a festival rooted in the city's history as a castle town. Sitting on the water with mountains close by, it developed from a feudal castle settlement into an industrial city and remains the administrative centre of the Senshu region. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
