Founded just over a month after Sydney, Kingston is one of Australia's oldest settlements and the capital of Norfolk Island, sitting directly on the water as part of the Kingston and Arthur's Vale Historic Area World Heritage Site. A compact village by any measure, it has a handful of cafés and restaurants and mountains close by, making it a compact base for exploring one of the Pacific's most historically layered corners.
