Karpacz

Poland

A ski resort and hiking base in Poland's Karkonosze Mountains, Karpacz sits below the range's highest peak and serves as the most established resort town on the Polish side of the range. The town retains architecture from its pre-1945 German era, including Silesian timber-framed buildings and two notable churches. In summer it draws hikers into Karkonosze National Park; in winter it operates as a ski and ski-jumping centre. A dense café and restaurant scene rounds out the offer for a town of its size.
