Regarded as the cradle of the Mali Empire, Kangaba is a historic royal town in the heart of the Mandé region of Mali, once a fortified seat of power. Known in Malinké as Ka'ba, it sits within sight of mountains and a short drive from water, carrying a deep significance in West African history as the birthplace of one of the medieval world's great empires.
