Kananga is a large city in DR Congo's Kasai-Central Province, formerly known as Luluabourg, that was once considered as a potential new national capital. It sits near the Lulua River and serves as both a provincial capital and the seat of the Archdiocese of Kananga. The city has a museum, an airport, and a railway connection, and functions as a significant commercial and administrative centre in the country's interior.
