Yemen's largest Red Sea island, Kamaran is a flat coral-fringed shelf island at the southern end of the Red Sea, with reefs surrounding three of its four sides. The island runs roughly 18 km long and sits in the shallow waters of the Arabian Peninsula's continental shelf, with low hills rising in the south. It falls administratively within the Hudaydah governorate.
