This compact mountain town in south-western Uganda, Kabale has a walkable centre with cafés, restaurants, and a concentration of historic churches. Known locally as "Kastone" — from the Rukiga word for pocket-sized stone — it serves as the main hub for Kabale District and sits within reach of Lake Bunyonyi, a draw in the wider region.
