Jinotepe

The departmental capital of Carazo in Nicaragua, Jinotepe takes its name from a Nahuatl word meaning "on the hill of the tender corn cobs" and sits within reach of several neighbouring departments including Managua, Masaya, Granada, and Rivas. The town has a compact centre with cafés and restaurants, and the surrounding landscape includes mountain views. Its Indigenous heritage traces to the Chorotega and Nahua peoples.
