This compact town in the Giant Mountains Foothills of Czechia, Jilemnice serves as a natural gateway to the western Krkonoše range and is home to the oldest Czech ski club, founded here in 1894. The historic centre, developed significantly under the Harrach family in the 18th century, is protected as an urban monument zone, with Jilemnice Castle as its centrepiece. The town sits on the Jilemka Stream and has a small core with cafés and restaurants.
