Known as the city of poets for the writers, historians, and poets born there, Jérémie is the coastal capital of Haiti's Grand'Anse department, sitting where the Grande-Anse River meets the sea with mountains close by. Relatively isolated from the rest of the country, it draws those willing to make the journey to one of Haiti's more remote departmental capitals.
