A city in the southwest of Brazil's Bahia state, Jequié sits on the water between the Atlantic Forest and the Caatinga biomes, in a mountain-ringed basin known for intense heat year-round. Nicknamed both "Cidade Sol" (Sun City) and "Chicago Baiana," it lies several hours inland from Salvador and has a Wikivoyage presence suggesting some independent traveller traffic.
