Ivrea
Torino · Italy
Ivrea earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 2018 for its mid-20th-century Olivetti complex — factories, headquarters, and surrounding modernist buildings that made this Piedmontese town a landmark of industrial and architectural history. The town also hosts the Ivrea Carnival, whose Orange Battle is among Italy's more theatrical winter festivals. Set on the Dora Baltea river with the Alps visible nearby, Ivrea has a walkable centre with historic churches, a medieval castle, and a cathedral, alongside a food-and-drink scene drawing on the vineyards of the surrounding Canavese area.
