A pocket-sized town in the Rhodope regional unit of northeastern Greece, Iasmos sits at the foot of the Rhodope mountains along the main road between Komotini and Xanthi, with a railway station on the Thessaloniki–Alexandroupolis line. One of the older settlements in the Rhodope area, it has a mixed Christian and Muslim population and an economy rooted in farming and livestock. The mountains are visible from the town, and water is within walking distance.
