This modest hamlet in western Iceland is home to the Agricultural University of Iceland, which has roots in a farming school founded here in 1889. Set within walking distance of water and close to mountains, Hvanneyri sits roughly an hour's drive north of Reykjavík in the municipality of Borgarbyggð, with UNESCO World Heritage sites accessible in the wider region.
