At the junction of China, Russia, and North Korea, Hunchun is a county-level city in Jilin Province's Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture with a walkable centre and a lively café and restaurant scene. The village of Fangchuan nearby offers an observation platform overlooking the three-country border, a draw for visitors. Hunchun also sits on the site of Donggyeong, the eastern capital of the Balhae Kingdom from 785 to 793.
