Himeville
South Africa
A small village in the KwaZulu-Natal foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, Himeville sits on the main route to the Sani Pass, the mountain crossing that links South Africa with Lesotho's Mokhotlong. The uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies close by. Known as a trout-fishing base and farming centre, the village was established in 1890 as a police outpost during a period of gun-running and cattle rustling, and named in 1902 after Sir Albert Henry Hime, then Prime Minister of Natal.
