Small city on the Keweenaw Waterway in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Hancock is considered a cultural capital for Finnish Americans, home to the Finnish American Heritage Center and, until 2023, Finlandia University. It sits opposite Houghton, connected by the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, and ranks among the snowiest cities in the country. The waterfront setting and mountain terrain of the Keweenaw Peninsula make it a regularly photographed stop, with a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size.
