Hamat Gader
Jordan
Hot springs in the Yarmuk River valley, known for their health and recreational use since classical antiquity, draw visitors to Hamat Gader, a site near the Golan Heights where mineral waters reach high temperatures. The Romans built a bath complex and theater here in the 2nd century, and an ancient synagogue with mosaics and inscriptions once stood on the grounds. Today the site holds a spa, modern and ancient baths, and a crocodilian farm and zoo.
