Haiphong
Hai Phong city · Vietnam
Vietnam's principal northern port city, Haiphong is also the gateway to Cát Bà Archipelago, home to a UNESCO-recognised biosphere reserve, and to the beach resort area of Đồ Sơn. The city itself holds French neoclassical architecture alongside traditional temples and pagodas in its older quarters, and is widely known in Vietnam as the City of Red Flamboyant Flowers for the trees lining its streets. Halong Bay's UNESCO World Heritage landscape lies within reach of the wider region.
