Sitting on the Lô River in the mountains of northeast Vietnam, Ha Giang is the main starting point for the Ha Giang Loop — a motorbike route along the QL4C that winds through Đồng Văn district, Lũng Cú, and Mèo Vạc, taking in some of the region's most dramatic highland scenery. The town itself has a walkable centre with a solid food-and-drink scene, and its population draws from more than twenty ethnic groups.
