Godalming
TLJ25 · United Kingdom
A heritage-dense market town in south-west Surrey where the Rivers Wey and Ock meet, Godalming has a compact centre thick with listed buildings — several dating from the 16th and 17th centuries — alongside cafés and historic churches within easy walking distance. The town claims to have been the first place in the world with a combined public and private electricity supply, and was the birthplace of James Oglethorpe, founder of the Colony of Georgia, in 1696.
