A pocket-sized Alentejo parish in northern Portugal with a historic core shaped by the Order of Aviz and the Marquês Ratão family, Galveias held town and municipal seat status from 1538 until the early 19th century. Several churches survive from that era, and the centre has cafés and restaurants for its size.
