Feteira
Portugal
Coastal parish on the southern slopes of the Caldeira Volcano on Faial island in the Azores, Feteira sits where vineyards meet the Atlantic shoreline. Several streams — including the Ribeira da Granja and Ribeira da Feteira — cross the parish, historically vital to local agriculture. The name derives from the Portuguese word for fern, reflecting the dense fern cover the original settlers found here. Horta, the island's main city, lies a short distance to the east.
