Lecco · Italy
A mountain village in the Grigna mountains above Lake Como, Esino Lario sits within the Regional Northern Grigna Park at high elevation in a sunny basin known for its mild microclimate. The surrounding karst landscape holds nearly 500 caves at Moncodeno, along with fossils and glacial boulders. Scenic viewpoints — including the lawn before San Pietro Church at Ortanella and the Passo di Narele — look out over Lake Como. The village has drawn visitors since the late 19th century and retains a little but real selection of cafés, restaurants, and hotels.
