This spa town in the foothills of the Papuk mountain in Slavonia, northeastern Croatia, Daruvar sits along the Toplica River and holds a winemaking tradition reportedly stretching back more than 2,000 years. It also serves as the main cultural and political centre for Croatia's Czech national minority. The modest central core has cafés and restaurants, and the town has a notable concentration of historic churches for its size.
