Dartington

Dartington Hall anchors this heritage-dense Devon village on the west bank of the River Dart, a short distance north of Totnes. The Cott Inn, a public house dating from 1320, is among the listed buildings within walking distance. In 1952, Dartington hosted a landmark conference in the British studio pottery movement, bringing together Bernard Leach, Michael Cardew, Shoji Hamada, and Soetsu Yanagi — a gathering that also marked the restoration of post-war British-Japanese relations.
