Large city in southeastern Bangladesh on the banks of the Gumti River, Comilla was once the capital of the Tripura kingdom and counts among the ancient cities of Bengal. It sits close to the border with India's Tripura state, connected via the Bibirbazar–Sonaura land port, and offers a handful of historical and cultural sites for those passing through the region.
