Rooibos tea is grown exclusively in the sandy valleys of the Cederberg mountains and marketed from this small Western Cape town, one of the oldest in South Africa, with early settlers arriving along the Olifants River as far back as 1732. Clanwilliam also sits beside a dam on the Olifants River, with wine and citrus country in the surrounding valley and the Cederberg range close by, which falls within a UNESCO World Heritage area in the wider region.
