Cholpon-Ata is a resort town on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, backed by the Kungey Ala-Too mountain range. The modest centre has cafés and restaurants, and the lake is within walking distance. It serves as the administrative centre of the Issyk-Kul district and draws independent travellers as a base for the lake and surrounding mountains.
