Chipata, the administrative capital of Zambia's Eastern Province, serves as a practical hub for overland travellers moving between Malawi to the east, South Luangwa National Park to the west, and Lundazi to the north. Declared Zambia's fifth city in 2017, it has seen rapid infrastructure growth in recent years and draws a multicultural population. The surrounding area offers access to hills and water within easy reach of the centre.
