Carleton Place
Canada
Small Ontario town on Canada's Mississippi River, Carleton Place sits about an hour's drive west of Ottawa with a walkable central core of cafés and restaurants along the water. Originally called Morphy's Falls after a mill site chosen in 1819, it was renamed — with a spelling change in 1829 — after a street in Glasgow. Its well-preserved historic buildings have made it a recurring film location, including for several Hallmark productions and a 2025 Michael Cera Christmas film shot downtown.
