Carcass Island, in the northwestern Falkland Islands, is one of the few islands in the archipelago free of introduced rats, cats, and other predatory mammals, making it a stronghold for land-breeding birds and a draw for serious birders. The single settlement, Port Patterson, offers lodging for visitors. The island is the largest of the West Point Island Group, with mountains visible from the shore.
