Villa Farnese dominates this compact Lazio town in the Cimini volcanic hills, a large Renaissance mansion begun in 1530 as a fortress for Cardinal Alessandro Farnese — later Pope Paul III — to a design by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. Caprarola has a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size, scenic hill surrounds, and holds the Bandiera Arancione quality mark awarded by the Touring Club Italiano.
