A coastal village on the northern shore of São Miguel in the Azores, Capelas sits right at the water with scenic viewpoints in the surrounding area and a compact central core of cafés and restaurants. Agriculture and tea production are the main local activities. The village is part of the municipality of Ponta Delgada and was elevated to vila status in 2003.
