A coastal industrial city in Bahia, part of the Salvador metropolitan region, Camaçari has a walkable centre with cafés and restaurants alongside Atlantic shoreline. It is home to the Camaçari Industrial Complex — described as the largest integrated industrial complex in the Southern Hemisphere and the country's first planned petrochemical complex — which has expanded over the years to include automotive, textile, and wind energy sectors, among others.
