Sweden's textile capital, Borås is a town in Västergötland known for its fabric industry, worldwide clothing brands, and the Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås. A statue of the city's founder, Gustav II Adolf, stands in the main square. The town also has a long history in mail-order retail, rooted in a tradition of travelling merchants known as "knallar," earning it the nickname "knallestaden" alongside "textilstaden."
