Sitting on the shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin, this tiny city serves as the gateway to the Apostle Islands and draws visitors with waterfront access, scenic surroundings, and a café and restaurant scene that punches above its weight for a place this pocket-sized. Once a county seat built on lumbering and commercial fishing, Bayfield today functions primarily as a resort and tourist base, with several historic churches adding to its compact centre.
