A district in Iraqi Kurdistan's Duhok Governorate with around 15 documented archaeological sites, including the castles of Shabani, Kashani, and Bijwani, along with the Nazduri Bridge over the Khabur River — all built during the Bahdini princes' era. The district's villages were largely destroyed during the Anfal operations, giving the landscape a layered and sobering historical character. Mountains and water are within easy reach of the town centre.
