Banteay Chhmar Lech
Cambodia
An Angkorian-era temple complex in northwestern Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey province, built in the Bayon style under Jayavarman VII and considered a rare example of Angkorian urban planning. The site sits near the Dangrek Mountains and the Thai border, and has helped archaeologists better understand the Angkor period. A village with visitor services adjoins the temple complex. The relative remoteness means far fewer crowds than at Cambodia's most visited Angkorian sites.
